John Carey is a nationally and internationally recognised strategic leader with over 35 years of experience guiding complex organisations through change, risk and high-stakes decision-making.
A former senior Australian Defence Force executive, he is known for bringing clarity to complexity, calm authority under pressure and a disciplined, ethical approach to governance and organisational performance.
John advises boards, CEOs, government agencies and global partners on strategy, risk, security, operational excellence and institutional resilience. His career spans leadership roles within Defence, international coalitions, the United Nations, NATO and multi-agency environments, with responsibility for teams of up to 900 people and operational budgets exceeding $250 million.
He has been entrusted with some of the world’s most sensitive strategic missions including global crisis responses, humanitarian operations, multinational negotiations and the modernisation of Australia’s defence capability reflecting a reputation for judgement, diplomacy and cross-sector leadership of the highest order.
